Dutchmen Lose Third Straight at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y.— The Union College men's soccer team fell on the road, as the RIT Tigers handed the Dutchmen a 1-0 loss, despite the many efforts to get on the board in Rochester.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Tigers opened up the scoring in the first half, scoring the only goal of the game courtesy of Jared Short. Short collected the ball from teammate Simon Garno, and scored off a weird bounce on a corner kick. Short's goal, his fifth of the season, was in the 41st minute to secure the win for RIT.
  • Union had the better play of the second half, outshooting the Tigers with a 5-3 shot margin, and creating a number of offensive opportunities to try and get on the board. Senior Jeremy Conn led all Dutchmen players with 3 shots on goal during the match.
  • Shots were kept close in the game, 9-8, in favor of RIT. Junior goalkeeper Trevor Krupp finished the close loss with three saves for the Dutchmen. Krupp's counterpart from RIT, Spencer Raymond-Schmidt, finished with just two saves.
  • The Dutchmen continue their season with a 9-6-0 record, and fall to 2-6-0 in Liberty League play. RIT improves to 5-8-1, and 3-4-0 in conference.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The Union College men's soccer team continues their season on the road, and takes on non-conference opponent Sage College on Tuesday, October 29th. Kickoff in Albany, N.Y. is scheduled for 5 p.m.
