SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Offense struggled to find their footing, and the Orange proved to be too much to handle, as the Union College women's hockey team fell, 5-0, to Syracuse on Tuesday night at Messa Rink.

• Syracuse opened up the game scoring quickly, with the first of two goals in the first period. Allie Olnowich got the puck from the corner and passed it to Abby Moloughney, who was sitting up front. Lindsay Eastwood picked up the puck from Moloughney and put it in the back of the net past senior goaltender Amelia Murray. Jessica DiGirolamo collected the second goal of the first, with less than five minutes remaining with an assist from Savannah Rennie, and Moloughney collecting her second assist.
• Syracuse added to their total in the second period, with DiGirolamo picking up the pass from Savannah Rennie in the front of the net to score and make it a 3-0 game.
• The Orange continued to shine offensively in the second half, gaining a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. Goals from Anna Leschyshyn and Rennie gave Syracuse a 5-0 advantage going into the second intermission. Moloughney also added to her point totals for the game, and collected her fourth assist on the night.
• Syracuse led in shots during weekday match-up, with a 37-20 advantage on the Dutchwomen. Murray and first-year goaltender Bella McKee split time in net during the game, with McKee coming in at the start of the third. The two goaltenders combined for a total of 32 saves. Syracuse's goaltender, Ady Cohen, received her first shutout of the season and the second of her career to give the Orange their first win of the season.
• During McKee's tenure in net, she allowed no goals in the final twenty. First-years Olivia Groulx, Leah Herrfort, and sophomore Maia Martinez led the Dutchwomen in shots, with four each.
• With the win, Syracuse improves to a 1-9-0 record on the season. Union continues with a 0-6-1 start before heading into conference play on Friday.
