TROY N.Y. —After a scoreless first half, the Union College men's soccer team battled through an intense second half, but fell to Liberty League foe RPI, 1-0, at ECAV Stadium in Troy, N.Y. on Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Even though the first half was scoreless, the shots were kept close between the Dutchmen and Engineers in the first half. Senior Salvador Lopez Jr. made an impact in the first half with his two shots, but neither of them got past RPI's goaltender Luke Brezek.
- The Engineers scored the game-winning and only goal of the game in the 63rd minute, with a goal in the lower right of the net from Joshua Gaudinano. Gaudinano got a pass from Arik Duncan and shot it past junior goalie Trevor Krupp to give them the lead in the second half to make it 1-0.
- RPI outshot Union, 13-7. Krupp finished with 6 saves and lost his second game of the season. RPI had 8 shots to the Dutchmen's 3 in the second half as they looked to secure the lead in the close game over the two rivals.
- With the Liberty League loss, the Dutchmen become 8-2-0 on the season, and 1-2 in conference play. #19 ranked RPI improves to 9-1 and 2-0 in Liberty League play.

The Dutchmen go on the road again, and travel to Saint Lawrence in Canton, N.Y. for a Liberty League match on Wednesday, October 9th. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
