SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to Yale on Saturday night at Messa Rink.
With the loss, the Dutchmen drop to 4-12-0 on the season with a 3-5-0 mark in ECAC Hockey play, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-7-0 (4-6-0 ECACH).
Arguably, the biggest turning point of the contest came in the first when Union was denied on a two-on-one chance. Facing a 1-0 deficit,
Anthony Rinaldi entered the zone with
Dylan Anhorn on the odd-man rush. Rinaldi got the puck to Anhorn who got the shot off, but Yale goaltender Corbin Kaczperski made a sprawling blocker save to keep Union from tying the game up.
Yale would make it 2-0 late in the second period and hold on for the 2-0 win.
Summary
- Union out-shot Yale 26-23, but Kaczperski stopped all 26 saves he faced in net for the Bulldogs.
- Darion Hanson made 21 saves on the night, including seven during the penalty kill.
- The Dutchmen killed off a major penalty in the second period, and were a perfect 3-for-3 on the PK.
- Yale won 64 percent of the face offs against Union.
