#11/13 Cornell musters past #18 Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. –
The No. 18 Union College men's hockey team lost to No. 11/13 Cornell by a score of 4-0 on Friday night at Messa Rink.
 
With the loss, Union falls to 12-8-5 on the season with a 5-7-1 mark in ECAC Hockey competition. Cornell improves to 13-6-1 and remains atop the league standings with a 9-3-1 conference record.
 
The game marked the third time the Dutchmen have been shutout this season and grows Union's current scoring drought to 125 minutes.

How it Happened
The Big Red opened the scoring in the eighth minute, capitalizing on a defensive-zone turnover by the Dutchmen. Cornell then added two more goals within the following 10 minutes to jump out to a 3-0 lead before the first intermission.
 
In the second period, Cornell's Morgan Barron scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season while on the power play to extend his team's lead to 4-0.
 
After being out-shot 28-16 through the first two periods, the Dutchmen came out with more emphasis in the third period, but were unable to capitalize on any of the chances they created.
