Dutchwomen Slay the Red Dragons, 10-6

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Union College women's lacrosse team outscored SUNY Oneonta 7-2 over the final 39 minutes of action as the Dutchwomen pulled out a 10-6 non-conference victory on Monday afternoon at Red Dragon Field.

Senior Hannah Rosenberger and sophomore Lindsay Gerrato tied for the game-high with three points apiece, with Gerrato scoring three times and Rosenberger dishing out three assists to lead Union (3-2). Seniors Kellie Cronin, Emma Lowrey and Ramsey Walsh all added a goal and an assist each for the visitors.

Oneonta opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play, but Union came back with a Lowrey goal 41 seconds later and then two from Gerrato to give the visitors a 3-1 lead 10:05 into the contest.

The Red Dragons scored three in a row of their own to regain the lead, but the Union offense and defense took over after that point, scoring five straight goals and keeping Oneonta off the scoreboard for over 31 minutes. Five different players scored for the Dutchwomen during the run, including the first of the year from sophomore Erika Bonnist to start the stretch.

After Gerrato's third of the game put Union up 8-4, the visitors only needed to trade goals for the final 20 minutes to come away with the win.

Union finished the game with a 31-21 edge in shots, as junior Ellie Taney made eight saves to pick up her third victory of the year.

The Dutchwomen will return to Liberty League action on Saturday, hosting #19 Ithaca College at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium beginning at noon.
