HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Union College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on a busy Monday in Hilton Head, falling to #35 Carleton College 9-0 in the morning and then losing an 8-1 contest to DePauw College in the evening.

In the first match of the day, Union suffered a 9-0 loss to a very strong Carleton squad that entered the week ranked 35th in the Oracle/ITA Div. III National Poll.

Tal Pezzuco had a great effort in her first singles match against Sonya Romanenko, taking the first set 6-4 before coming up just short in a 7-5 second set and a 10-5 supertiebreaker. Seniors
Paige Webster and
Alex Greenberg both nearly took their respective singles matches to three sets as well, with Webster dropping a 7-5 first set to Kristina Conrad at third singles and Greenberg falling 8-6 in a second-set tiebreaker of her sixth-singles match against Yelena Hallman.

Union got back on the court later that day against DePauw, falling by an 8-1 margin. Pezzuco picked up a comeback win at first singles for the Dutchwomen, dropping the first set 6-2 before earning a 6-4 win in the second set and then pulling out a 10-6 supertiebreaker.

The Dutchwomen will close out their Spring Break trip on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. match against Oberlin College.
