SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Ithaca College in a Liberty League matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Union Tennis Courts.
 
Four different players played a role in wins for Union (5-6, 2-3 Liberty League) on the afternoon, but the Dutchmen could only manage one doubles win and two singles victories against Ithaca (5-8, 4-2 Liberty League).
 
In doubles action, junior David Bond and freshman Ioannis Binopoulos picked up an 8-5 victory over Michael Gardiner and Max Prestwich at second doubles for Union's first point of the day, but the home team headed into singles competition down by a 2-1 score.
 
Union won twice in singles and took two other matches to three sets, but it was not enough to pull out a win. Freshman Cameron Klepper came back from a set down to defeat Gardiner at third singles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0, while sophomore Austin Egna also defeated Prestwich at the fifth flight, 7-6 (11-9), 2-6, 6-2. Binopoulos and Bond both took their singles matches to three sets as well, but could not take home the victories.
 
Union will be back in action on Tuesday with a Liberty League match at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute starting at 4 p.m.
