SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College softball team dropped a pair of games to Utica, 11-4 in the first game, and 8-0 in the second game, Thursday from Alexander Field.

Game one: Utica 11, Union 4

Sophomore
Stuart Buxton 3-4 from the plate as the Dutchwomen came up short against the Pioneers. Senior

Rochelle Nuqui each had two hits and an RBI as well.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the third inning, scoring three runs to lead 3-0 heading into the fourth. Union got on the board with no outs in the bottom of the fourth when a single by junior
Bailey Kross plated first-year
Julia Boule. The Dutchwomen added another run later that inning off a Nuqui single.

After a three-run fifth inning by the Pioneers, Dolinko doubled down the left field line, driving in first-year
Julissa Malana and made the score 6-3 after six. Utica used a five run seventh inning to take an 11-3 lead to put the game away. Sophomore
Makayla Koehler drove in Kross in the bottom of the seventh to wrap up the scoring.

Game two: Utica 8, Union 0

The Dutchwomen managed only four hits as they dropped the contest 8-0. The Pioneers opened the scoring with one run in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth inning. The visitors used a four run sixth inning to secure the victory.

Union returns to action Saturday, April 20, traveling to Skidmore for a pair of games starting at 1:00 p.m. (ET). Â
