SCHENECTADY, N.Y – The Union College women's tennis team fell in its final Liberty League matchup of the season on Friday afternoon, as the Dutchmen lost to St. Lawrence University by a 6-3 score on Senior Day at the Sportime Tennis Club.
 
Senior Paige Webster was part of one of the three wins on the day for Union (3-11, 1-7 Liberty League), teaming with junior Tal Pezzuco for a first-doubles win. Sophomores Megan Brown and Samantha Siegel also earned singles wins as well for the Dutchwomen.
 
Pezzuco and Webster got the home team on the board in doubles play after St. Lawrence (9-6, 4-3 Liberty League) had taken the first two points, defeating Katherine Apt and Caroline Reilly by an 8-3 score.
 
The Saints clinched the match by taking the first four singles matches, but Brown and Siegel ended the day on a good note by both earning hard-fought victories. Siegel defeated Grace van Tartwijk at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-1, while Brown outlasted Apt in a supertiebreaker, 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (10-7).
 
Union will close out the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, when the team hosts SUNY New Paltz in a makeup match starting at 6 p.m. at the Union Tennis Courts.
