SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's tennis team got the home portion of its spring schedule underway on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the Union Tennis Courts, falling to William Smith College by a 7-2 score in a Liberty League matchup.
Union (3-8, 1-4 Liberty League) took one of the three doubles matches to start the afternoon, as senior
Paige Webster and junior
Tal Pezzuco got off to a quick start and held off Maggie Bonomo and Dina Rigas at first doubles, 8-6. However, William Smith (8-4, 4-2 Liberty League) took the other two doubles matches to take a lead into singles play.
The Dutchwomen earned one more point in singles competition, as Union senior

fGreenberg (no relation) in a sixth-singles supertiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4). Pezzuco nearly mounted a comeback of her own at first singles, but dropped a massive supertiebeaker to Allie Perron in a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (17-15) defeat.
Union will return to the court on Friday, when the Dutchwomen travel to Oneonta to take on SUNY Oneonta beginning at 4 p.m.
