SCHENECTADY, N.Y – On Thursday, May 16, the Union College Department of Athletics is partnering with Union Chabad, the Office of Disabiliity Services, the Pre-Law Society and the Wicker Wellness Center to co-host a speech by Justice Richard Bernstein beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Reamer Campus Center Auditorium.
Justice Bernstein is the first blind judge elected to the Michigan Supreme Court. A tireless advocate for disabled rights, he is a political science professor, radio show host, marathoner and Iron Man triathlete, and inductee in the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
He will share a powerful, motivational message of optimism, determination and advocacy during his lecture at Union. In his spare time, Richard is an avid runner, completing 21 marathons – including eight New York City marathons – as well as two triathlons, the Ironman triathlon in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 2008 and the Israman triathlon in Eilat, Israel in 2011.
