SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Union College men's soccer team had its season-opening eight-game winning streak halted with a 1-0 conference loss to Vassar College at College Park Field on Saturday afternoon. Union moves to 8-1 on the season and 1-1 in Liberty League play with the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Brewers scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute on a strike from Jonathan Bow. Bow got a pass from Owen Fauth and shot it past junior goalie Trevor Krupp from 15 yards out to give them the lead early.
- Union nearly knotted the score in the 59th minute when a curling free kick by senior Jeremy Conn from 25 yards out caromed off the post and came back out.
- Union and Vassar were tied in shots with 10 apiece, as the Dutchmen outshot the Brewers 7-5 in the second half as they looked for the equalizer, but Vassar held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Krupp finished with five saves to suffer his first defeat of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Dutchmen go on the road, and travel to RPI in Troy, N.Y. for a Liberty League match on Saturday, October 5th. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
