Dutchmen fall short against Colgate

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Despite a hot start, the Union College men's hockey team fell, 3-2, to Colgate on Friday night at Messa Rink. The loss drops the Dutchmen to 6-15-1 on the season with a 4-7-0 mark in ECAC Hockey, while the Raiders improve to 8-9-4 (6-2-1 ECACH).
 
Union came out flying in the first period, scoring two power-play goals for a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. However, Colgate came out in the second period and tied the game within the first seven minutes of the frame.
 
The deciding goal was scored on a penalty shot that was awarded to the Raiders with 1:11 remaining in the third period. Colgate was awarded the penalty shot after a delay of game penalty was assessed to the Dutchmen after the net came dislodged during a scramble in the Union end.
