Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Ryan’s two goals help Women's Hockey top Brown 3-1

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Junior defenseman Megan Ryan had a career-best night, scoring two goals as the Union College women's hockey team topped Brown, 3-1, on Friday night at Messa Rink. The Dutchwomen are now 3-16-5 on the season with a 3-6-3 mark in ECAC Hockey competition, while Brown drops to 1-14-1 (1-9-1 ECACH).

Union opened the scoring at the 14-minute mark of the first period as Leah Herrfort scored her fourth of the season. Katelynn Russ had the initial shot that was kicked out to Herrfort at the left post, who then buried it in the back of the net for her team-leading 10th point of the season.

In the second period, Ryan scored less than five minutes in to give the Dutchwomen a 2-0 lead. Ryan received the puck in the neutral zone and drove straight to the net before roofing it over the shoulder of Brown goaltender Hayley Kliczko for the two-goal lead.

Midway through the second, Brown answered back while on the power play, as Jacquie Tam scored to cut Union's lead to 2-1. However, Union later went on a power play and Ryan scored her second of the game, sniping another shot over the shoulder of Kliczko.

The third period went by without any scoring despite the Dutchwomen out-shooting the Bears. 10-8.
