SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Union College men's hockey team powered to a 4-3 win over Dartmouth on Saturday night at Messa Rink. The Dutchmen improve to 7-18-3 on the season with a 5-10-1 mark in ECAC Hockey play, while Dartmouth falls to 10-8-4 with a conference record of 7-6-2.
Just like the night before, Union came out hot in the first period. The Dutchmen out-shot the Big Green 16-8 in the period, and were rewarded at the 15:27 mark with the first goal of the game.
Owen Farris got off a one-timer that beat Dartmouth goaltender Adrian Clark for his second goal of the season.
Unlike the previous night, Union kept up the pressure in the second period and this time scored three straight. Dartmouth's Will Graber actually tied the game up at the 7:16 mark, but
Christian Sanda responded 21 seconds later to put Union back on top.
Gabriel Seger then scored his fourth of the season at the 12:46 mark to give Union a two-goal lead. In the waning seconds of the period,
Sean Harrison scored with one-tenth of a second left to give Union a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.
In the final frame, Dartmouth made a comeback bid, as Quin Foreman scored twice to bring the game within one. However, Union held on and first-year goaltender
Josh Graziano earned his first career win in his first start.
