With the spring sports season canceled at its very beginning (or before it even started, for some Union teams) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UnionAthletics.com will spend the next few months spotlighting many of the Union seniors whose athletic careers came to a premature end. Previous senior profiles can be viewed by heading to http://www.unionathletics.com/seniorspotlights.
Â
Domenic Nardone spent two seasons with the Union baseball team after transferring from nearby Siena College. He earned All-Liberty League honorable mention as a junior, when he posted a 3-2 record and 3.51 earned run average in a team-leading 41.0 innings of work. Nardone had made two appearances during his abbreviated senior campaign, earning a win in his season debut against Castleton University and finishing with a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 innings on the hill.
Â
Outside the lines, Nardone is a member of the Garnet Group and was named to the Dean's List last year as a managerial economics major.

What has been your favorite moment as a student-athlete at Union?
I only played one full season in a Union uniform, but if I had to pick a favorite moment it would probably be our Florida baseball trip. Spending a week representing Union in Florida was a blast and I think it really helps put Union on the map.
Â
How has being a student-athlete at Union benefited you?
Being a student-athlete at Union taught me how to manage my time well and how to handle high expectations that come with being a student-athlete.
Â
What has been your most meaningful experience outside of athletics?
My most meaningful experience outside of athletics was working on my senior thesis. I developed a relationship with Professor Carl Cheng [Assistant Professor of Economics], who I previously had no interaction with. I learned a lot from that time and I hope Professor Cheng learned a lot from me as well.
Â
Who was/is your favorite professor at Union and why?
If I had to pick a favorite professor at Union I would have to mention Professor Cheng once again. He helped me grow so much as a student and he makes me truly proud of my own work.
Â
Do you have plans for post-graduation yet? If so, what are they?
After graduation, I will be working as a financial advisor at McAdam Financial in Boston.
Â
What advice would you give to younger athletes about their time at Union?
After losing my senior season, I would tell all young athletes at Union to cherish their time as an athlete. I know it can be tough at times as a student-athlete but when it's gone you will miss working your butt off every day with your best friends.Â
