SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nine different players scored at least one goal as the No. 11 Union College men's lacrosse team outlasted Springfield College in a 14-9 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Senior captain
Kerry Lyne continued to lead the offense for Union (3-1), scoring a game-high five goals, while sophomore
Brian Davis was the only other Dutchman to score more than once with a pair of tallies. Senior
Eric Zimm was one of seven Union players to score one goal, adding a team-best two assists to the ledger as well for a three-point day.
The Dutchmen struggled early on for the second time in four games this season, as Springfield scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead 4:20 into the contest. Lyne got one goal back late in the first quarter before goals by junior

Michael Sands tied the game 5:02 into the second stanza.
After no scoring for nearly eight minutes after Sands' goal, the teams combined for five goals in the final 2:10 of the quarter. Senior
Jack Kaufman and Lyne responded to Springfield tallies to keep the game tied before junior
Kieran McGovern gave Union its first lead of the game (6-5) by scoring with four seconds left.
The teams alternated scores in the third quarter as Union retained its one-goal lead at 8-7 headed to the fourth. The Dutchmen took control of the game in the final quarter, scoring five of the first six goals to open up a 13-8 lead with 4:55 remaining. Lyne bookended the run with his fourth and fifth goals of the contest, while tallies by Zimm, Davis and junior
Keaton McCann kept the run going.
Sophomore
Jack Donahue finished the scoring with his second goal of the game, scoring on Union's 43rd and final shot of the game with 1:02 remaining. The Dutchmen outshot the Pride by a 43-34 margin and got 12 saves by senior
Graham Goldheim to secure the victory.
Union will return home on Wednesday with a matchup against St. John Fisher College beginning at 7 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field.
