SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Junior
Lindsay Gerrato led all players with five goals and nine draw controls to pace the Union College women's lacrosse team in a 15-12 victory over SUNY Oneonta in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.

Gerrato continued her hot start to the season with five goals and an assist, leading Union (2-1) in goals and points. Senior
M.K. McIntire also had a big game for the Dutchwomen, setting new career-highs with four goals and five points, including a perfect 3-for-3 effort from the eight-meter arc. Classmate
Corey Golden also added three goals for the victors, while Sophia Calabrese shined for Oneonta (1-2) in a losing effort with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists.

McIntire and Gerrato gave Union an early lead by scoring exactly 60 seconds apart, but Oneonta came back with four of the next five goals to take a 4-3 lead with 16:33 left in the opening half. However, the Dutchwomen stormed back by scoring five of the next six tallies, including two each from Gerrato and McIntire, to take an 8-5 lead. Gerrato bookended the run with her tallies, while McIntire scored twice in 27 seconds and freshman
Sydney McPartlon added a man-up goal.

Golden closed out the half with a tally of her own, putting the home team up 9-6 at the break.

The Red Dragons scored the first goal of the second stanza to get back within two, but McIntire responded less than four minutes later. That goal started a 4-0 run for the home team that opened up a six-goal lead following Golden's second of the game that made the score 13-7 with 15:46 remaining. Union did not need much offense the rest of the way, as Gerrato countered two Oneonta scores to retain the six-goal edge with 9:25 left and the visitors' late rally fell well short thanks to solid work by the Union defensive unit.

Union finished the game with a 31-29 edge in shots and also scored on five of its nine free-position attempts. Senior
Ellie Taney finished the game with eight saves and a game-high six ground balls to earn the win, while also limiting Oneonta to a 5-of-13 effort from the eight-meter arc.

The Dutchwomen continue their homestand on Wednesday with a non-conference tuneup against Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at 4 p.m.
