vs. Colorado College
Union and Colorado College have only met four times in program history, with the Tigers winning all four matchups. The last meeting came in 2011, when the Tigers took a close 2-1 win in Colorado Springs. This will be the first trip the Tigers take to Schenectady, as all four previous meetings have been in Colorado.

Scouting the Tigers
Colorado College hits the road for the first time this season after hosting St. Lawrence for the season opener. The Tigers posted a 4-17-2 (4-16-2 NCHC) record in the limited conference-only 2020-21 season, dropping a 2-1 loss to St. Cloud State in the first round of the NCHC Tournament. The Tigers return 21 players from the 2020-21 season and added transfers Noah Prokop (Omaha) and Danny Weight (Boston College).

Welcome Back, Kris Mayotte
Colorado College announced former Union goaltender, Kris Mayotte '06, as the 15th head coach in program history on April 7, 2021. Mayotte ranks second in career wins at Union with a 46-52-13 record and also sits second in total saves (2,977) and shutouts (10), and also held the school single-season saves record (987) until Darion Hanson '21 broke the mark during his junior year. The former Dutchman still holds the school's Division I single-game saves record at 58, a feat he accomplished twice, breaking the record previous against Bemidji State on October 25, 2002, and tying his own record on March 4, 2006 against Yale.

Back at Home
It has been 601 days since Union played a regular-season home game at Messa Rink. The Dutchmen last skated on the home ice on February 22, 2020, when the home team dropped a 3-2 (OT) contest to Quinnipiac.

Oh Captains, My Captains
Senior Josh Kosack will wear the captain's "C" this season while juniors Dylan Anhorn and Gabriel Seger will don the "A" for the Dutchmen in 2021-22. Kosack is captaining the team for the second straight season, after serving as a team leader during the 2020-21 pandemic year.

Looking to Surprise
Union was picked to finish in a tie for eighth in the ECAC Hockey preseason coaches poll, earning 40 points to tie with Rensselaer. The local media were even more pessimistic about Union's chances, voting the Dutchmen 11th out of 12 teams (26 points) in the preseason media poll.

Welcome to the Show
Heading into the 2021-22 season, more than half (16 of 31) of Union's players have never played in a collegiate game. Seven sophomores were with the team last year but did not compete, as Union did not play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program also welcomed eight first-year players to the team this season as well.
