POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team battled against the Vassar College Brewers in Liberty League play. The Dutchwomen beat the Brewers 2-1 on Gordon Field this afternoon.

Emma Schleimer led the way for Union. She scored a goal and also helped out with an assist on the game winning goal. Senior
Lexi Cornacchia scored the game-winner for the Dutchwomen.
Schleimer found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the game to give Union a 1-0 led in the first half. Schleimer scored off a rebound that bounced off the net minder and she hammered it home. Vassar out shot the Dutchwomen 9-4 in the half. Junior goaltender
Abby Mitty made four saves in the half to keep Union ahead 1-0.
In the second half, Union jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 69th when Cornacchia made a run and Schleimer was able to thread the needle through the defense to put it on her foot and Cornacchia did the rest. Vassar tried to mount a comeback but the first goal came too late. Jessica Young scored in the 90th minute to cut the Union lead in half. Vassar again out shot Union in the second half as well, 6-3.Mitty made five saves in the win for the Dutchwomen.
The Dutchwomen (4-5-1, 2-1-0) will travel to Utica, N.Y. to face off against the Pioneers on Tuesday, October 5th at 4 p.m. looking to build this win.
