ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Junior
Christian Rufo scored in the 98th minute to break a 1-1 tie against Bard College and give the Union College men's soccer team an overtime win, 2-1, on Wednesday evening.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half. Union out shot Bard 8-2 in the first half.
Bard got the scoring started with a goal in the 64th minute and gave Bard a 1-0 lead over Union. In the 73rd minute sophomore
Robbie Michalski scored his seventh goal of the year to even things up in the game at 1-1. Junior
Nate Boule assisted on the Michalski goal. Union and Bard tied in the shots for the half with 9 apiece.
In overtime Union out shot Bard 4-2 and Rufo found the back of the net to win it for the Dutchmen. Sophomore
Diego Pascual-Sanchiz connected with Rufo on his goal. This was Rufo's second goal of the season. Union out shot Bard 21-13 for the game. Sophomore
Sean Speck made six saves in the win for the Dutchmen.
Union (7-7-1, 2-6-0) will play their final game of the season, Saturday October 30th when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. for a 1 p.m. kick off against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers.
