Women's Volleyball Finishes Weekend at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Union College women's volleyball team finished off arguably its most challenging weekend of the season with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-13) defeat at the hands of Ithaca College in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon at Ben Light Gymnasium.

After facing off with one conference unbeaten yesterday, Union (4-12, 0-4 Liberty League) met up with the other remaining conference unbeaten this afternoon, as Ithaca (11-8, 4-0 Liberty League) put down 43 kills to the Dutchwomen's 11 in the three-set win.

Senior Jessica Siragusa led the visitors with five kills, while sophomore Sophia Estok reached double figures with a team-best 10 digs. Jaelyn Hershberger led all players with 10 kills for the Bombers.

The opening set started auspiciously for the visitors, as two aces on Estok's serve led the Dutchwomen to a quick 6-0 lead. Union still led 9-6 before 11 straight points by the home team put Ithaca back in control of the opening frame.

Ithaca used a similar run to take control of the second set, scoring 14-of-15 points at one point to open up a 13-5 lead, and also scored 14 of the third set's first 18 points on the way to the win.

Union will continue its road swing by taking on Skidmore College on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m.
