Jessica Davos Named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach for 2022

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Jessica Davos has been named the interim head coach of the Union College women's lacrosse team for the 2022 season, Director of Athletics Jim McLaughlin '93 announced on Thursday.

A native of Albany and graduate of Syracuse University, Davos brings over a decade of lacrosse coaching experience to Schenectady.

"We are very excited to bring in someone with Jessica's experience to lead our women's lacrosse program for the 2022 season," McLaughlin said. "Her years of experience at all three Divisions and her deep ties to the Capital Region will be great assets to our program. I look forward to seeing her and the team take the field this spring."

"I am honored to be named Union College's next head women's lacrosse coach," Davos said. "I'd like to thank Jim McLaughlin for trusting me to lead the team in 2022. After two consecutive COVID-shortened seasons, I know the team is eager to compete in a full slate of games and I can't wait to get on the field with this talented group of student-athletes."

Davos was last on the sidelines as a coach with the University at Albany women's lacrosse program from 2011-18. She spent six years as the top assistant coach for John Battaglino from 2011-16 before being elevated to associate head coach in 2017 and eventually taking over as interim head coach of the program for the 2018 season. In her time with UAlbany, Davos helped the Great Danes to a 90-35 record, two America East championships (2011 and 2012) and four NCAA Tournament appearances, while her units were consistently ranked in the top-10 of Division I in scoring defense.

Before her time at UAlbany, Davos spent two years as an assistant coach at Harvard University and also served as head women's lacrosse coach at Division II Bryant University and Bentley College. She got her coaching start as an assistant lacrosse and soccer coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

A 2002 graduate of Syracuse University, Davos (formerly DeRosa) played four seasons with the Orange, helping the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a 44-19 overall record. A three-time Academic Director's Honor Roll recipient and a BIG EAST Academic All-Star, she graduated from Syracuse with a degree in English and textual studies. She previously was an All-American player and league MVP at Albany Academy for Girls.

Davos will make her Union debut on the sidelines on March 9, when the Dutchwomen host SUNY Cortland at Frank Bailey Field at Bertgana-Class of 1985 Stadium. The full 2022 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
