Union Game Notes

About the Dutchwomen:
-The Dutchwomen had a weekend split against #9/10 Harvard and Dartmouth on the road. Union lost 5-0 to the Crimson and beat Dartmouth 2-1, snapping their 11 games losing streak. Senior Grace Heiting and first-year Ashley Adams scored in the win for Union. Union plays host to Franklin Pierce this weekend for games on Friday and Saturday. Union has yet to win at home this season, posting a 0-10-1 record. First-year Sophie Matsoukas secured her first career win against Dartmouth making a season high 39 saves. Sophomore Celeste Beaudoin is tied for the team lead in points with nine. Heiting also has nine points as well and leads the team in goals with seven. Junior Emily King and Beaudoin are tried with six assists each. 

About the Ravens:
-The Ravens play three games this week against Dartmouth and Union. Franklin Pierce lost to Dartmouth 7-0 on Tuesday and will now travel to Messa Rink for a weekend series against the Dutchwomen. The Ravens come into Messa Rink on a three game losing streak, they have scored four times and allowed 15 over that span. Franklin Pierce is 3-6-0 on the road this season. There are three Ravens tied a top the team with six goals apiece, sophomore Emilie Prive, sophomore Brooke Remington, and sophomore Jenna Ruiz. Junior Katelyn Brightbill leads the team with nine assists on the season and has seven points in her last five games. Sophomore Jenna Ruiz leads the team with 14 points on the year. In net the Ravens have split time between sophomore Suzette Faucher and Emme Ostrander, with each goalie starting eight games. Faucher has a GAA of 1.49 and Ostrander a 2.78. 

Historically Speaking:
-This is the first time Union College and Franklin Pierce will play against each other. Against teams Union has faced this season, Franklin Pierce is 0-3-1. These teams being Mercyhurst twice, UNH, and Dartmouth.

Fresh Faces
-The Union College women's hockey team enters the year with 15 players who have never played a collegiate hockey game. Seven sophomores are returning and after not seeing the ice last year because of the pandemic, while eight first-years will played in their first collegiate games for the Dutchwomen in the season opener at RIT.

Captains: 
-Cassidy Michalicka was named the captain following serving as an assistant captain in the 2019-20 season for the Dutchwomen. Classmate Grace Heiting was named a captain for the 2021-22 season as well.
