Men's Tennis Falls to Skidmore

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Skidmore College in Liberty League action on Sunday at the Union Tennis Courts.

Skidmore (3-0, 3-0 Liberty League), which had not played in two weeks, extended its conference winning streak to 44 matches, while Union (2-2, 2-2 Liberty League) had its modest two-match winning streak come to an end.

Sergiu Celebadachi, Brendan Jimenez and Kevin Ha were all dual winners for the Thoroughbreds.

Seniors Austin Egna and Max Egna jumped out to an early lead in their second doubles match against Jimenez and Connor Biernat, but the twins could not sustain the momentum in an 8-4 loss.

Austin and Jimenez battled again in singles play, as Egna nearly forced a third set in a 6-2, 6-4 defeat at the second flight. Junior Ioannis Binopoulos also competed well against Celebidachi at first singles before falling by a 6-4, 6-2 score.

Union will return to the court on Saturday, when the team hosts Vassar College in its home regular-season finale beginning at 3 p.m.
