Saints Beat Dutchmen 3-2

CANTON, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team faced off against St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Stadium in their second conference matchup of the season. The Dutchmen lost 3-2 in the game.

Sophomore Robbie Michalski scored a goal and had an assist, while junior Evan Farr scored in the loss.

The Saints jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Dutchmen, with Marvin Sibanda scoring twice just minutes apart. His first goal came in the 11th minute, and he scored again in the 16th minute when he dribbled by junior Kenyon Pelletier to give SLU a two-goal edge.

In the 28th minute, Farr cut the Saints lead in half after knocking the ball out of the air and beating the goaltender just inside the far post. Michalski was credited with the assist. Union outshot St. Lawrence 9-8 in the first half but trailed 2-1.

Four minutes into the second half, Michalski scored from the penalty spot to tie the game. The sophomore was tackled from behind in the box leading to the penalty kick, and Michalski then sent the shot into the low left corner beating the keeper. The match remained time until the 84th minute, when SLU's Raphalal Zoccolaro scored on a shot that beat Pelletier on his right side for the eventual game winner. Union was outshot 11-3 in the second half.

The Dutchmen (4-3-1, 0-2-0) will face off against another conference opponent next Saturday when Vassar College comes to College Park Field for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
