This past week marked the return for Union's fall intercollegiate teams in over 640 days. The 2021-22 season is officially in full swing with ten teams in action this week and a full weekend of games ahead.

The Union College football team moved up one spot in the D3football.com poll to 14th after a dominating 48-14 victory against Morrisville State. Senior William Bellamy completed 20-of-25 passes for 294 yards with four touchdowns. The defensive line held the visiting Mustangs to 38 yards on 27 attempts. Worcester State is coming off a 38-20 loss to WPI on Friday night. The Dutchmen will look to contain wide receiver Ke'Vaughn Davis who caught 11 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns in Worcester State's opener.

The Union College field hockey team makes their long-awaited home debut on Wednesday against Keuka. Junior Isabel Lubin recorded a career-high five points on two goals and an assist to lead four Dutchwomen scoring their first collegiate goals as the Union College field hockey team started the 2021 season with an impressive 5-0 victory over Castleton University. The Dutchwomen look to bounce back and make a statement at home after suffering a loss to #12 Babson.

The Union men's soccer team made some noise in their home opener against New England College. Sophomore Robbie Michalski led all players with three points, scoring the game's first goal and adding an assist in his collegiate debut. Junior Kenyon Pelletier earned his first collegiate victory with a shutout. The Dutchmen look defend home field on Wednesday before making the trip north to Castleton this weekend.

The season opener may have been delayed by Hurricane Ida, but the Union women's soccer team made the most of the delay. The Dutchwomen defeated Babson in a double-overtime thriller on Saturday before tying Mount St. Mary on Sunday. Senior Erin O'Shea is off to a hot start with three points in the first two games, including an assist on senior Emma Schleimer's game-winning goal on Saturday.
 
Women's Cross Country

The Union women's cross country team got a hot start this past week at the Vassar Season Starter. Three members of the team clocked in a top-15 finish, led by sophomore Allison Malatesta, who recorded a sixth-place finish in her collegiate debut.

The Union men's cross country team is coming off a third-place finish at the Vassar Season Starter which saw seven runners place in the top-25. Sophomore Ben Trantanella finished in 11th place, less than a second off of the eighth place runner.

After starting the season on the road at the Johnson & Wales Invitational, Union women's volleyball returns home to host SUNY Poly Tuesday evening, kicking off a stretch of almost three weeks of home matches. The Dutchwomen host Suffolk, Skidmore, Williams, and Springfield in the Union Invitational this weekend.

Union women's golf opened the season with a record-setting performance at the St. Lawrence University Invitational. The Dutchwomen's weekend score of 644 shattered the previous school two-day record of 669 set in 2019. First-year Elizabeth Bentsianov capped an incredible debut weekend by breaking school single-round and two-day scoring records.

The Union men's tennis team opens the season on the road at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic. The Dutchmen return senior All-Conference player Ioannis Binopoulos and will look to him to lead the team this fall.
