POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Union College women's hockey team was shut out by the #7 Clarkson University Golden Knights at Cheel Arena Saturday afternoon, by a final of 4-0. Sophomore
Hope Crisafi made her first collegiate start, stopping 33 shots in the effort.
Clarkson broke the ice at the 7:03 mark of the first period. The Golden Knights scored again just three minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0 over the Dutchwomen. Union was out shot 12-10 in the first period and both teams went 0-1 on the player advantage.
In the second period Clarkson would tally two more times including once short-handed. This extended the Golden Knight lead to 4-0 and this score would hold through the third period. In the second and third period Clarkson out shot Union 25-18.
First-year
Paige Greco was an impressive 10-12 in the face off circle. Union went 0-4 on the power-play and was a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill.
Union gets back on the ice Tuesday, January 25, when they travel to Providence, Rhode Island to take on Brown. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
