Bears Down Dutchwomen, 2-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After jumping out to a 1-0 lead the Union College women's hockey gave up two unanswered goals and lost to the Brown University Bears at Meehan Auditorium Tuesday evening. Sophomore Josie McLeod scored the lone goal for Union in the 2-1 loss.

Union got the scoring started in the second period after each team traded chances in the first they found themselves scoreless after one period. Sophomore Allison Smith gathered in a loose puck in the neutral zone and delivered a pass to classmate Celeste Beaudoin who carried the puck into the zone before firing a shot that was saved initially and McLeod was able to jam in the puck on the net drive. This was McLeod's third goal of the season. Beaudoin added her team leading eighth assist while Smith tallied her second assist on the season.

Brown would answer 3:14 later to tie things up in the second period, before adding a second goal just 90 seconds into the third period to take a 2-1 lead over Union. The Dutchwomen kept up the pressure out shooting Brown 11-7 in the third period.
