SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team returned to College Park Field for the first time in almost a month and continued where they left off with a 1-0 shut over the tough Liberty League opponent in Vassar College. Union improved to 2-1-0 in conference play with the win on Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Berliner combined for Union's eighth shut out win of the season.
With both teams trading opportunities on the opening couple of minutes, it was Union who struck first. Sophomore
Sam Friedman gathered in a ball that was sent to the far corner and was able to send a pass across the top of the 18-yard box. Junior
Meghan Piser poked the ball away from the Vassar defender and then with a right footed shot be the goalie to the left side. This gave Union a 1-0.
This was Piser's first tally of the season and became the eventual game winner.
Vassar responded well with back to back shots that Mitty was able to turn away and keep the shut out alive. Vassar out shot Union 5-4 in the half and each team had a corner opportunity.
Vassar continued to up the pressure in the second half and out shot Union 7 to 4 in the second half. Union hung on for the there second win over a Liberty League opponent and improved to 8-1-0 on the season.
Union will play host to Hamilton College on Tuesday afternoon from College Park Field. Kick off for that game is set for 4 p.m.
