SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team lost 2-1 to the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College on Tuesday evening's Liberty League match up. Sophomore
Sam Friedman scored Union's lone goal. This was her fifth goal of the season.
Union came out firing to start the game, but were unable to find the back of the net. Skidmore used a quick transition, to see a through ball end up finding the back of the net on an odd player rush. The Thoroughbreds grabbed an early 1-0 lead just seven minutes in.

Abby Mitty stopped two of three shots on goal in the half.
The Dutchwomen pulled even one minute into the half. Friedman grabbed a bad pass from the Skidmore midfield and was able to dribble into the 18-yard box. She sent a shot to the right side of the net and beat the goalie. This was Friedman's fifth goal of the season and tied the game 1-1.
The Thoroughbred regained their lead in the 69th minute on a free kick that floated into the goal past the first-year
Rachel Berliner. Union upped their pressure, but were unable to score in the final minutes to draw even.
Union was out shot 11-4 in the half. Berliner made one save on two shots in the half.
With the loss Union will not qualify for the Liberty League tournament. They will play their final game of the season on Saturday afternoon against the Tigers of Rochester Institute Technology. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
