The Union College women's hockey team gets set for their third straight weekend on the road against Hockey East opponents, Providence College and Boston University. Union has 2-2-0 record against Hockey East opponents so far this season.

The Dutchwomen improved to a 2-2-0 record over four games following their second straight weekend split against a Hockey East opponent. After a 4-3 loss to Holy Cross on Friday evening, the Dutchwomen responded with a 3-1 win on Saturday. Senior

About the Friars:
Providence kicked off their 2022-23 season with a weekend series against St. Lawrence. The Friars claimed Friday evening's game with a 3-2 overtime win. The Saints split with Providence on Saturday downing the Friars 5-2. Graduate Student Caroline Peterson leads all Friars with two goals and she is also one of four players tied with two points as well. Senior Lauren DeBlois and junior Rachel Weiss each have two assists for the team lead.
Graduate Student Sandra Abstreiter started in both games for the Friars. She posted a .903 save percentage a 2.97 goals against average with a 1-1-0 record.
Last Time They Played:
Providence got the best of Union in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Union last season at Messa Rink. Union's
Maren Friday scored the Dutchwomen's lone goal. Lily Hendrikson and Claire Tyo scored for the Friars.
Historically Speaking:
Union as a 1-8-1 record all time against Providence and has lost the last four meetings between the teams. Union's last win came on Oct. 4, 2013 in Schenectady.
About the Terriers:
Boston University will open the season this weekend when they take on the Engineers of RPI on Friday and then face Union on Saturday. Lacey Martin is the team's top returning scorer with five goals and seven assists for 12 points.
Callie Shanahan returns in between the pipes for Boston University. She appeared in 21 games and started 13 of them, posting a 2.32 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.

Boston University topped Union 4-1 last year at Messa Rink.

ECAC Players of the Week:
Riley Walsh was named ECAC Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals in her first weekend series and helping Union to a 1-1 record over the weekend. Walsh scored twice in her collegiate debut, with goals coming on the power play and shorthanded. She is the first player to do this for Union since 2006. She added her third goal of the season on Saturday afternoon against UNH. Walsh leads the team in goals and points.

Stephanie Bourque tallied three helpers to help the Union College women's ice hockey team post a 1-1-0 record against the College of Holy Cross. King was named ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week and Bourque earned ECAC Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Josh Sciba served as an assistant coach for the 2022 U.S. Women's National Team. The United States returned home from the 2022 IIHF Women's Hockey World Championships with a Silver Medal, following a 2-1 loss to Canada in the gold medal game.
