TROY, N.Y. – After starting the season with a victory over the weekend, sophomore goalie
Dan Donahue of the nationally ranked Union College men's lacrosse team was recognized as the Liberty League Men's Lacrosse Defensive Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Donahue picked up right where he left off as a first-year, making 11 saves on 15 on-target attempts and conceding a career-low four goals in Union's season-opening 8-4 win over Babson College. He made eight of his 11 saves in the second half, including six in the fourth quarter alone as the Beavers attempted to mount a late-game comeback. The sophomore also grabbed two ground balls and caused a turnover, while leading a defensive unit that went 21-for-23 on clear attempts over the course of the afternoon.
Donahue enters his second season as the team's starting goalie in 2022 after posting a 4-3 record with a 9.28 goals against average and .544 save percentage in seven starts during the abbreviated 2021 campaign.

Inside Lacrosse rankings, returns to action on Wednesday when the Dutchmen travel to Endicott College for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Gulls.
