SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Despite a pair of victories from senior
Cameron Klepper, the Union College men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 matchup to perennial Liberty League power Skidmore College on Friday at Sportime Tennis Club. The match was moved indoors thanks to rain in the area on Friday afternoon.
Klepper had an excellent day for Union (3-5, 1-1 Liberty League), posting an 8-6 win alongside sophomore
Bailey McAtee at third doubles before finishing off the day with a hard-fought 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Joseph Wilkanowski at sixth singles.
Junior
Aidan O'Brien and first-year
Ben Jacobs nearly pulled out a victory at first doubles for the Dutchmen as well, coming up one break short in an 8-6 loss to Sergiu Celebidachi and John Rado. First-year
Ian Schunk also came one break away from a first-set win over Tristan Thiebaut at fifth singles before falling, 7-5, 6-1.
The Dutchmen will return to action on Sunday with a conference matchup at Ithaca College beginning at 10 a.m.
