CLINTON, N.Y. – The Union College women's track and field team opened the 2022 outdoor season at the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday afternoon from Pritchard Track. The Dutchwomen faced seven other schools in the non-scoring meet.

First-year Catherine Dacey was the top finisher for the women, winning the 1500m dash with a time of 5:04.59 in her first collegiate outdoor meet.  

The 4x400m relay team also was a winner today. The team of Dacey, sophomore Caroline Stanton, sophomore Kasey McGerald, and first-year Yurami Van Eer won the race with a time of 4:15.61.

Stanton also earned a pair of second-place finishes individually on the day. In the women's 400m dash, she crossed the line with a time of 1:03.67, and she also competed in the high jump, leaping a height of 1.43 meters to secure second place. McGerald also picked up a second-place finish of her own, finishing the women's 800m dash in a time of 2:24.27.

First-year Marley Froe sprinted a 13.38 in the 100m dash, finishing in fourth place overall. Froe also competed in the 200m dash, finishing in fifth place with a time of 27.63.

Senior Steph Heiberger and junior Leila Warde, finished back-to-back in the 100m hurdles, placing fifth and sixth respectively with times of 17.69 and 17.72. Warde also had a top six finish in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 1:17.39.

In the 4x100m relay, the team of Heiberger, sophomore Glory Moncion Allen, and first-years Froe and Gabby Baker finished in fourth place with a time of 53.02.

In the field events, junior Denesha Lafontant placed fourth in the triple jump, jumping 10.48 meters. Lafontant placed seventh after jumping a distance of 4.65 meters in long jump.  

The Dutchwomen are back in action next Saturday, when they travel to the SUNY Cortland Invitational. The meet will begin at 11 a.m.
