SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College softball team's bats stayed hot, that helped sweep the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Alexander Field on Thursday afternoon. Union won game one 12-4 and 4-2 in game two.

Tara Hartnett and teammate
Tatum Perkins were excellent on the day. Hartnett went 4-7 with three hits and two RBI, while scoring twice. Perkins was 3-7 with two doubles and four RBI in the doubleheader, she scored twice herself. Junior
Karson Saunders went 2-3 in the game with a double, a home run and four intentional walks.
Game One: Union 12, MCLA 4 (6 innings)
The Trailblazers grabbed two quick runs to open the scoring in game. The Dutchwomen answered in the bottom of the first inning, with five of their own. After a walk and a hit by pitch, Hartnett scored on a pass ball. Senior

Anna Zdunczyk to tie things up, 2-2. After a walk by first-year
Morgan Napier to load the bases, Perkins hit a base clearing double to the right center fence. This extended the Union lead to 5-2.
In the bottom of the second inning, Union grabbed two more runs. Hartnett and Zdunczyk hit back to back singles. Saunders was intentionally walked to load the bases. Hartnett scored on another pass ball. Junior
Amanda Granato helped herself out in the circle with a sac fly, that scored Zdunczyk. Union lead 7-2.
MCLA cut into the lead with a one out single that scored a run. Union added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, off the bat of Hartnett, who singled in Perkins and Napier. Union led 9-3.
In the bottom of the fifth, Saunders launched a home run to dead center, adding to the Dutchwomen lead. This was her seventh blast of the season. MCLA scored their fourth run of the game on a double. The Dutchwomen out the game away in the bottom of the sixth inning. Perkins hit her second double of the game and scored Napier. Zdunczyk won the game on a single through the left side and scored Perkins. Union won 12-4.
Granato (8-4) earned her eighth win of the season, throwing six great innings from the circle. She allowed four runs on nine hits and struck out three batters.
Game Two: Union 4, MCLA 2
The Trailblazers began game wto like they did in game one. They scored in the first inning and jumped out to a 1-0 lead. MCLA added their second un in the third inning, on a sac fly, to double their lead.
In the bottom half of the third, the Dutchwomen evened things up. First-year
Kasey Walsh scored on a pass ball, and while the MCLA catcher was taking her time to get the ball, Hartnett came around from second and also scored on the same play. Union tied things up 2-2.
Both teams for the next couple of innings, fought for runners and looked for the next run to break the 2-2 tie. That tie breaker came in the fifth inning off the bat of first-year catcher
Nahnny Sobetzko, who singled in Saunders and junior
Olivia Valery, to give Union a 4-2 lead. Union would hang on and win 4-2.
First-year
Riley Callahan (1-0) came on in relief, in the fifth inning. She earned her first collegiate win, throwing three scoreless innings and struck out three batters, while also not allowing a hit. Senior
Rochelle Nuqui started the game and threw four strong innings for the Dutchwomen. She allowed two-run on four hits and struck out two batters.
The Dutchwomen (16-8, 2-6) have won six in a row. They will get Friday off, before continuing the home stand against Liberty League opponent Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon. First pitch from Alexander Field is set for 1 p.m.
