NEW LONDON, C.T. – The Union College women's track and field team traveled to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy for the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to a trio of conference championship qualifiers, the Dutchwomen scored 45 points and finished in 7th place out of 12 teams.
First-year
Catherine Dacey was the top finisher of the afternoon for the Dutchwomen, winning the 1500m dash with a 4:57.05 run, beating out her closest opponent by more then two seconds to capture the victory. This time beats her previous best and also qualifies her for the Liberty League Outdoor Championships.
Union earned another win in the 4x400m relay. The team of Dacey, sophomore

Kasey McGerald and first-year
Marley Froe crossed the line ahead of everyone else, finishing with a relay time of 4:11.66.
Junior
Denesha Lafontant placed third in triple jump, jumping 10.37m to qualify her for the Liberty League Outdoor Championships. She also placed sixth in the women's long jump, jumping 4.63m to place her in the sixth spot.
Stanton placed fourth in the 400 hurdles, clocking a 1:12.48 to earn a trip to the conference meet.
Sophomore
Allison Malatesta clocked a 2:35.33 time in the 800m dash and finished in fifth place for Union, while classmate
Lauren Armstrong finished in eighth place just five seconds back, with a time of 2:40.03. McGerald broke into the top six in the 400m dash, finishing with a career-best time of 1:02.25.
The 4x100m relay finished in sixth place as well. The team, comprised of Froe, senior
Steph Heiberger, sophomore
Glory Moncion Allen, and first-year
Gabby Baker, clocked a 52.92.
Next up for the Dutchwomen is the Silfen Invitational on Saturday, April 16. The meet is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start.
