ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Nine different players picked up at least one victory as the Union College women's tennis team started off Liberty League play with a 9-0 sweep of Bard College on Wednesday afternoon at the Stevenson Courts.

Sydney Alphabet were all double winners on the day for Union, For Alphabet, the victories are the first singles and doubles dual-match wins of her collegiate career.
Union started strong in doubles play, dropping a combined seven games in the three matches. Hirnak and sophomore
Gabby Gatto had the quickest match at second doubles with an 8-1 victory, followed closely by first-years
Claire Langille and
Skylar Semon with an 8-2 triumph at first doubles. Alphabet and Tromblee complete the sweep by winning 8-4 at the third flight.
Union kept the momentum going in singles play, with all six entries winning in straight sets. Hirnak earned another point for the visitors with a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles, while senior
Hallie Katzman provided the decisive fifth point with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the top flight.
The visitors kept up the effort to complete the sweep at the final four flights. Tromblee marched to a fourth-singles win without dropping a game, followed by senior
Rayna Katzman with a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Alphabet completed her perfect day by posting a pair of 6-2 sets at third singles before senior
Lichuan Xiong finished off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 sixth-singles win.
Union will return to individual play this weekend, taking part in the St. Lawrence Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
