CLINTON, N.Y. - The Union College women's soccer team finished the non-conference part of their 2023 schedule Wednesday, falling to Hamilton, 2-0.
First-year
Maya Koster got the start in net for Union, stopping a career-high 11 shots in the contest, but ultimately the 27 shots, and 13 on goal, from the Continentals would prove to be too much.
Koster beat her career-high with six saves in the first half alone before rejecting five more in the second.
Hamilton fired eight shots, including three that were stopped by Koster, before they cracked the scoreless tie in the 25th minute. An insurance goal less than seven minutes after the half provided the final score. Koster beat her career-high with six saves in the first half alone before rejecting five more in the second.
Union had eight shots in the contest, with four on net. Junior
Sam Friedman was the only Garnet Charger with two shots, with both forcing saves.
Hamilton also had the edge in corners, 5-4.
Following a tough challenge with games on back-to-back days on the road against the top two teams in the Liberty League standings this past weekend, the Garnet Chargers return to conference action Saturday with another tough task, facing RIT, the Liberty League's other co-second placer holder. This time, however, Union will be home, welcoming the Tigers on Saturday for a 2:00 PM start.
