TROY, N.Y. – For the second straight year, a school-record 28 Union College student-athletes were recognized for academic success by earning spots on the Liberty League Winter All-Academic Teams, the conference announced on Thursday.
The Liberty League's winter championship sports include men's and women's basketball, swimming & diving and squash. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, have a year of residence on campus, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.
Over 60 percent (18) of Union's honorees are repeat selections to the All-Academic Team, while five seniors were selected for the maximum third straight season. The women's basketball team led all winter sports with nine selections, followed by the men's and women's swimming and diving team with eight honorees each and men's basketball with three.
