EWING, N.J. - The Union College women's tennis team started its 2023 spring season on Saturday afternoon, falling to The College of New Jersey by a 9-0 score at the TCNJ Rec Center.

Gracie Nicol nearly earned Union a point in their first doubles match, taking Jenny Landells and Charlotte Roarty to a tiebreaker before succumbing by a 8-7 (7-5) score.Â
In singles play, Union sent a pair of matches into supertiebreakers, but the visitors were unable to come up with a point to break up the shutout. In third-singles action, first-year
Chara Meidani took the first set from Alexa Vasile but could not finish off the win, falling by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8). At fifth singles, first-year
Skylar Semon came back from a set down against Chase Eisenberg, but could not complete the comeback in a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) defeat.
Union will return to action tomorrow, when the team heads to New Jersey to battle Division I Lafayette College beginning at 4 p.m.
