HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team scored two empty net goals and came away with a 3-1 victory over Colgate University on Friday night at Class of 1965 Arena.
Union (11-14-2, 5-9-1 ECACH) moves up to eighth place in ECAC Hockey standings, one point behind seventh-place Clarkson University. Colgate falls to 10-5-0 in conference play and 13-12-2 overall.

Caden Villegas all registered assists for the visitors. Watkins extended his point streak to four games (1-3-4) while Farris (1-3-4) and Tupker (3-0-3) extended their streak to three games.
Robertson opened the scoring at 14:03 of the first period with his seventh tally of the season. Watkins skated up the left-wing wall and fired a centering pass to Robertson. The Ontario native crashed the net and slipped the puck past Carter Gylander's left skate to put the visitors up 1-0.
Union extended the lead to 2-0 in the final seconds of the middle stanza. Colgate pulled Gylander with 2.8 seconds left for a faceoff in Union's end of the ice. Farris won the draw cleanly back to Young who fired it the length of the ice for the empty net goal with 0.3 seconds left.
Colgate broke up the shutout bid with 4:01 remaining in the game. Alex Young scored for the Raiders, sending the puck right past senior
Connor Murphy's right skate to make it a 2-1 game. Colgate pulled Gylander in favor of the extra attacker with less than 90 seconds to play. Villegas forced a turnover in Union's end of the ice and chipped the puck over to Tupker at the blue line. The junior skated up through the neutral zone and fired a shot from the point to put the game away with 1:05 remaining for his third goal in as many games.
Murphy was excellent in net, making 28 saves, including 12 in the final stanza. The senior improves to 9-12-1 on the season. Gylander made 10 saves and falls to 13-11-2.
Union looks to extend their win streak to three tomorrow at #11 Cornell University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Lynah Rink.
