TROY, N.Y. – Four members of the Union College women's lacrosse team were recognized for their excellent play on the field this season by earning All-Liberty League honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
 
First-year Sydney Widlitz led Union's All-Conference quartet with a spot on the first team, while seniors Sydney McPartlon and Dana Truini as well as sophomore Greta Maurer all were named to the second team. McPartlon and Truini both earn All-Conference laurels for the second time in their career, while Widlitz and Maurer are honored for the first time.
 
Widlitz is the first Union goalie to earn All-League first-team honors since Kim Grinhaus '15 in 2015 and only the fourth Union goalie in program history to be named to the first team. The first-year had an immediate impact in the crease for Union, posting a 10-5 record with a 10.02 goals against average and .518 save percentage. She led all conference goalies and ranked 24th in Division III in save percentage this season, while also ranking second in GAA and third in saves per game (9.19). She was named the IWLCA Division III National Co-Defensive Player of the Week in early April and her 147 saves this season are the most by a Union goalie since Cat Ruggiero '11 stopped 176 shots in 2010.
 
McPartlon earns second-team honors for the second time in three years after another excellent year at the helm of the Union offensive attack. The senior attacker finished the season fifth in the Liberty League in goals per game by netting a career-high 46 goals with 10 assists for 56 points, nearly doubling her career totals in all three categories. She had at least one goal in 16-of-17 games this season, including a career-high seven goals and two assist for nine points against Plattsburgh State on March 18. The senior finished her career 16th in career goals (95) and 24th in career points (116) at Union, averaging 2.71 goals (5th) and 3.31 points (7th) per game in 35 games.
 
Truini also earns her second All-League second-team honor in three years following the best offensive season of her career. She tied for third on the team in points with 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points in 15 games, while also leading the team with 62 draw controls and ranking third in both ground balls (23) and caused turnovers (13). Among conference players, she ranked eighth by averaging 4.13 draw controls per game. The senior increased her goal and point totals in every season with the team, finishing with 55 goals and 17 assists for 72 points in 45 career games.
 
Maurer picked up her first career All-Conference honor after a great year in the midfield for Union. The sophomore led the team with 38 ground balls to rank fourth in the Liberty League and also paced the team with 21 caused turnovers, while also chipping in 17 goals and 13 assists to rank fifth on the squad with 30 points. Through two seasons with the team, Maurer has recorded 35 goals with 22 assists for 57 points.
 
Union, which received votes in the final regular-season IWLCA Division III national poll, won 11 games for the first time since 2016 and made its third straight appearance in the Liberty League semifinals in 2023 under first-year head coach Alyssa Treanor.
