SCHENECTADY, N.Y., - The Union College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against #15 SUNY Oneonta to open the season Friday evening at College Park Field.
Union opened the game with pressure on the Red Dragons before Ali Somow broke a 0-0 draw at 23:06 to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The visitors struck again in the second half with a goal by Milton Mancias Magana to take a 2-0 advantage.
First-year
Marco Perugini recorded two shots on goal in the second half with a pair of quality chances in his collegiate debut. Senior
Robbie Michalski also added a shot in the final minutes of the game, but Nate Hanna stood held on for the shutout bid.
Sophomore
Jacob Perry made five saves on the evening for the Garnet Chargers.
Union is back in action on Wednesday with a non-conference tilt against Western New England University beginning at 6:00 p.m. at College Park Field.
