Men's Soccer Settles for Scoreless Draw with Bard

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team settled for a scoreless draw with Bard College in Liberty League action at College Park Field on Saturday afternoon.

Union (4-4-4, 0-1-2 Liberty League) doubled up Bard (5-6-1, 0-4-1 Liberty League) in shots on the afternoon by a 10-5 margin, but could not find the net over the course of 90 minutes.

Senior Alan Daniel led all players with three shots on the day, while senior Diego Pascual and first-year London Abbott both had two shot attempts. No Bard player had more than one shot attempt over the 90 minutes.

The Garnet Chargers held nearly 60 percent of its possession on the offensive side of midfield, but the team struggled to generate consistent offensive opportunities. The home team put three shots on target over the opening 45 minutes but were stopped on each occasion by Bard keeper Julian Landau. One of Union's best chances came in the 33rd minute, when Daniel took a free kick from 25 yards out that caromed off the crossbar.

Union put the only two shots on goal of the second half, but first-year Owen Everett and Pascual had their chances denied in the 61st and 85th minute, respectively.

First-year Jackson Magee made two saves for Union, while Landau stopped five shots for the Raptors.

Union will return to action next weekend with a busy Liberty League weekend, beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. at Ithaca College.
