Langlois Provides the Difference in Men's Soccer's 1-0 Win at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – First-year Nate Langlois scored the match's only goal in the 10th minute to propel the Union College men's soccer team to a big 1-0 victory over Ithaca College in a Liberty League matchup on Friday afternoon at Carp Wood Field.

The victory was a very important one for Union (5-5-4, 1-1-2 Liberty League) as the postseason chase heats up, moving the team up the conference standings to just two points behind sixth-place Ithaca (6-5-2, 2-2-1 Liberty League) with five matches remaining.

It did not take long for Union to grab an advantage on Friday, with Langlois finding the net at the 9:17 mark. The first-year took a shot from outside the 18-yard box that dipped under the crossbar and over the head of keeper Brayden Milbrandt for his second goal of the season.

First-year Jackson Magee and the Union defensive unit made the lead stand up, as Magee made 10 saves over the course of 90 minutes to keep his team in front. The Bombers finished the match with a 16-11 edge in shots, but Magee was up to the task to finish off his and the team's third straight clean sheet.

The Garnet Chargers will look to keep the momentum going tomorrow with another tough test against Hobart College beginning at 2 p.m. in Geneva.
