Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 to RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss against the Rochester Institute of Technology in a conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Doug May Field.

Despite outshooting RIT four to three and earning a corner kick opportunity in the first half, Union was unable to convert their chances.

The decisive goal for RIT came midway through the first half, when Elana Onodera received a through ball from Olivia Harris and crossed it to Rachel Marriott, who tapped it past Union's goalkeeper.

In the second half, Union recorded two additional shots and had a golden opportunity in the 65th minute when senior forward Sam Friedman sent a low shot from the right side on goal, but was saved by RIT's goalkeeper, Emily Sanchez.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maya Koster played the full 90 minutes, recording three saves.

The Garnet Chargers return to action on Wednesday as they host Skidmore in a Liberty League matchup. Kickoff set for 7:00 PM.
