Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 to Skidmore College

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Skidmore College in a conference matchup on Wednesday night at College Park Field in the team's 2024 home finale.

Union (9-5-4, 2-4-2 Liberty League) is still alive in the race for the postseason despite the loss, as the Garnet Chargers are in a three-way tie for seventh place with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and St. Lawrence University, one point back of sixth-place Clarkson University. In order to reach the postseason, Union will need to beat Clarkson in Saturday's regular-season finale and have RPI lose to first-place Ithaca College on Saturday to reach the playoffs.

Despite outshooting Skidmore 14 to nine and earning a corner kick opportunity in the second half, Union was unable to convert on their chances during the match.

The decisive goal for Skidmore came three minutes into the first half. A corner kick by Elliana Caporusso found Kyra Russman-Araya at the center of the eighteen. Russman-Araya right footed the ball into the left side of the net.

Junior forward Alayna Boileau recorded a team high of three shots on net while sophomore goalkeeper Maya Koster played the full 90 minutes recording five saves on the evening.

The Garnet Chargers return to action on Saturday as they travel to Clarkson for a must-win Liberty League matchup. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
