LEBANON, N.J. – The Union College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Division I Lafayette College in a non-conference matchup on Sunday evening at Courtside Racquet Club.
Lafayette started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the afternoon, then won four of the six singles contests to finish off the win.
Sophomore
Skylar Semon and first-year
Luisa Arizpe-Sierra picked up singles victories for Union (1-2) on the day. Arizpe-Sierra made quick work of Carmen Merkel at third singles in an 8-2 win, while Semon took down Alexandra Waldman in fifth-singles play by an 8-6 score.
Junior
Gabby Gatto came a tiebreaker short of picking up a win at fourth singles as well, falling to Ally Bauer by an 8-7 (7-0) score.
Union will take some time away from competition before heading south for Spring Break for five matches beginning on March 22 against Kalamazoo College and Ramapo College of New Jersey in Orlando, Fla.
